Basics - Auto-Populating Functionality

As Report Writing is highly integrated with Enterprise Records and can pull information from your agency's Enterprise Records database, there may be instances where fields within a report automatically populate with information. 

For example, consider the following:

• In Enterprise Records, an incident is created for an accident at 123 Main Street in Forest City, MI 55555. 

• The incident contains a subject, John Smith, who was born on 01/01/1981.

If a case report is created in Report Writing using the above incident, the following fields would automatically populate when the Case Report module opens:

• On the General page: 

  • Location field: 123 Main Street, Forest City, MI 55555

  • Occurred Incident Type list: Accident

• Within a new subject entry on the Subjects page:

  • Last Name text box: Smith

  • First Name text box: John

  • Date of Birth text box: 01/01/1981. 

Fields where information was automatically populated from your agency's Enterprise Records database can still be edited.
