Case Report - General - Field Descriptions

This help topic contains descriptions of the fields that display on the General page. 

Field Name Description

Occurred Location field

When clicked, the Location Entry dialog opens, allowing you to add the address of where the event associated with the case occurred.

Occurred Incident Type list

The type of event associated with the case that occurred. For example, Assault.

Same as Reported Date/Time toggle

Used to automatically populate the Occurred From Date and Occurred From Time text boxes with the date and time the case's associated event began. After turning this toggle on, you cannot add or edit information in the text boxes unless you turn the toggle back off.

The Reported Date/Time is always visible in the upper-left corner of the Case Report module.

Occurred From Date text box

The date the case's associated event began, which displays in the upper-left corner of the Case Report module. The Calendar  button may also be used to select a date. The correct format is MM/DD/YYYY.

When the Same as Reported Date/Time toggle is turned on, the Occurred From Date text box disables.

Occurred From Time text box

The time the case's associated event began, which displays in the upper-left corner of the Case Report module. The Clock  button may also be used to select a time. Unless Now is selected, the correct format is HH:MM.

The Occurred From Time text box only enables after a date is added to the Occurred From Date text box.

The time the case's associated event occurred until, which displays in the upper-left corner of the Case Report module. The Clock  button may also be used to select a time. Unless Now is selected, the correct format is HH:MM.

Status list

The current status of the case. For example, Open or Closed.

Status Date text box

The date the case's current status was selected. The Calendar  button may also be used to select a date. The correct format is MM/DD/YYYY.

Disposition list

The disposition associated with the case.

Exceptional Clearance list

The element as to why a person involved with the case was not arrested, which is beyond law enforcement's control. For example, Death of Offender.

Exceptional Clearance Date text box

The date the exceptional clearance occurred. The Calendar  button may also be used to select a date. The correct format is MM/DD/YYYY. 

The Exceptional Clearance Date text box only displays after making a selection from the Exceptional Clearance list. However, after it displays, it becomes a required field. 

Significant Event list

The significant event corresponding with case's associated event. For example, Halloween.

Campus Code list

The code associated with a school campus. For example, the campus code for Michigan State University is MSU.

County list

The county where the event associated with the case occurred.

Assigned Department list

The department to which the case was assigned. For example, Narcotics (Investigations Division > Narcotics).

Scene Processed By list

The officer who processed the crime scene for the case.
