Field Interview - General - Field Descriptions

This help topic contains descriptions of the fields that display on the General page. 

Field Name Description

Contact Date text box

The date the field interview was conducted. The Calendar  button may also be used to select a date. The correct format is MM/DD/YYYY.

Contact Time text box

The time the field interview began. The Clock  button may also be used to select a time. Unless Now is selected, the correct format is HH:MM.

The Contact Time text box only enables after a date is added to the Contact Date text box. 

Contact Reason list

The reason for the field interview. For example, Suspicious Activity

Contact Type list

The method in which the field interview was conducted. For example, In Person

Occurred Location field

When clicked, the Location Entry dialog opens, allowing you to add the address of where the field interview was conducted.

Information Source list

The source of the information. For example, Rumor

Evaluation list

The evaluation of the information's source, either Reliable or Unreliable

Assignment list

Where the field investigation is assigned. For example, Narcotics (Investigations Division > Narcotics)

Incident Number text box

The number assigned to the associated incident.

Clicking inside the Incident Number text box automatically populates the first four digits as the current year. After entering the number's remaining digits, the Report Writing application automatically verifies its validity with your agency's Enterprise Records database. If the incident number does not exist in the database, the Incident Number text box turns red, and the following error message displays below it: Incident Number is Invalid. 

Entering an incident number disables the Case Number text box.

Case Number text box

The number assigned to the associated case.

Clicking inside the Case Number text box automatically populates the first four digits as the current year. After entering the number's remaining digits, the Report Writing application automatically verifies its validity with your agency's Enterprise Records database. If the case number does not exist in the database, the Case Number text box turns red, and the following error message displays below it: Case Number is Invalid. 

Entering a case number disables the Incident Number text box.
