Arrest Report - Charges - General Section

This help topic contains descriptions of the fields that display within the General section. Click the section's header to expand or collapse it. 

TIP: When finished adding/editing information, continue to the other sections or click the Back  button. 

Field Name Description

Offense/Charge Date text box

The date the charge was issued to the arrestee. The Calendar  button may also be used to select a date. The correct format is MM/DD/YYYY.

Offense/Charge Time text box

The time the charge was issued to the arrestee. The Clock  button may also be used to select a time. Unless Now is selected, the correct format is HH:MM. 

The Offense/Charge Time text box only enables after a date is added to the Offense/Charge Date text box

Counts text box

The number of counts the arrestee is being charged with for the associated statute. The Increase  and Decrease  buttons may also be used to change the count.

This field automatically populates with the number entered in the Counts text box on the Select Arrest Charge dialog, but can be edited.

Attempt/Commit list

Used to select whether the charge was completed.

Submit Offense check box

Select this check box to submit information about the charge with your monthly UCR (Uniform Crime Reporting) and/or IBR (Incident-Based Reporting) data.

The Submit Offense check box is automatically selected by default.

Domestic Code list

The code associated with a domestic-related charge. For example, Parent-Child or Roommate

Larceny Code list

The code associated with a larceny-related charge. For example, Shoplifting

Disposition list

The disposition associated with the charge.

Disposition Date text box

The date the disposition was associated with the charge. The Calendar  button may also be used to select a date. The correct format is MM/DD/YYYY.

Reason to Commit list

The motive behind the arrestee committing the crime. For example, Threat to Commit

Scene Code list

The code associated with the location where the charge took place. For example, Restaurant or Bar/Nightclub

Clery Location list

The location where the clery-related charge was committed. For example, On Campus

Aiding/Abetting list

The method in which the arrestee was intentionally assisting another person in committing a crime. For example, Shelter or Transportation

Multiple Clearance Indicator list

Used to ensure the arrestee is only counted once when the arrest is related to multiple cases/incidents.

The available options within the Multiple Clearance Indicator list are determined based on your state's regulations. Examples include M for Multiple, C for Count Arrestee, etc.

Plea list

The arrestee's response to their accused charge. For example, Not Guilty

Other Agency check box

Select the Other Agency check box if the charge occurred in an agency outside of your own. 

NCIC Code list

The NCIC offense code associated with the charge.

Arrest Charge field

When clicked, the Select Arrest Charge dialog opens, allowing you to edit the associated statute.
