Case Report - Offenses - General Section

This help topic contains descriptions of the fields that display within the General section. Click the section's header to expand or collapse it.

Field Name Description

Offense Date text box

The date the offense occurred. The Calendar  button may also be used to select a date. The correct format is MM/DD/YYYY.

Offense Status list

The current status of the offense. For example, Dropped.

Offense Status Date text box

The date the current status of the offense was set. The Calendar  button may also be used to select a date. The correct format is MM/DD/YYYY.

Submit Offense check box

Select this check box to submit information about the offense with your monthly UCR (Uniform Crime Reporting) and/or IBR (Incident-Based Reporting) data.

Case Offense field

When clicked, the Select Case Offense dialog opens, allowing you to edit the associated statute.

Counts text box

The number of counts the offense was committed for the associated statute.

TIP: The Increase  and Decrease  buttons may also be used to change the count

Attempt/Commit list

Used to select whether the offense was completed.

NCIC Code list

The NCIC offense code associated with the offense.

Bias Motivation list

The bias that acted as motivation for the offense. For example, Anti-Asian.

Location/Scene 1 list

The location where the offense took place. For example, Bar/Nightclub

Location/Scene 2 list

Used if a second location was associated with the offense.

Gang 1 list

The gang associated with the offense.

Gang 2 list

Used if a second gang was associated with the offense.

UCR Return A Code list

The UCR (Uniform Crime Reporting) Return A code associated with the offense.

UCR Stolen Property list

The UCR code for stolen property associated with the offense.

Clery Location list

The location where the clery-related offense was committed. For example, On Campus.

Bias Based On list

The method used to determine whether the offense was a hate crime. For example, Officer's Belief or Victim's Belief.

Bias Target list

The offense's target, which is motivated by bias. For example, Person or Property.

School Incident list

Used to select whether the offense took place at a school.

Reported Clery Code list

The code associated with the clery-related offense. For example, Assault  - Firearm.

VAWA Incident list

The VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) code associated with the offense. For example, Dating Violence
